As I progress through the site, I occasionally check the ‘linguistic skills’ pie chart in the statistics section. My chart seems quite unbalanced. For example, my reading fluency is at 51%, speaking at 6%, kanji & kana at 2%.

I would like to develop in areas where I seem to have made little progress. Some of the exercises are plainly labeled according to their skill set (i.e. aural comprehension, writing, etc.). However, though I have worked on what I thought were kanji & kana exercises at length, points are being added to ‘reading’ (as they probably should). I have yet to figure out how I managed to get any points at all in ‘speaking’.

I suggest clear ‘linguistic skill identifiers’ on the different sections of the site. Since colors are used in the pie chart, perhaps certain sections could be labeled or tagged with the corresponding color of the skill that it targets; orange for reading fluency, blue for speaking, etc. That way, the students might be able to quickly find the exercises that they need to focus on the most.

Each exercise can give you points in several fields. But naturally some fields will have more importance depending on the exercise.

I still need to create more exercises to give members the opportunity to practice their oral and aural skills more.

Anyway, the suggestion of indicating the ratio of points for each exercise is a good idea. I should think about how to implement it easily so that people can identify them quickly without having to read a lot and refer to a remote page.

Thanks for your interest in the site.
