Particle KIRI (きり)

1. 

The particle KIRI is used after nouns and verbs, and means "only". It is mainly used in spoken language.

今日は朝ごはんを食べたきりだから、とてもお腹が空いています。
きょう は あさごはん を たべた きり だから、とても おなか が すいて います。
I only ate breakfast today, that's it, so I’m very hungry.
会議が始まるまであと３分きりだから、山田さんは欠席だろう。
かいぎ が はじまる まで あと さんぷん きり だから、やまださん は けっせき だろう。
The meeting will start in just three minutes, so it’s likely that Yamada will not attend this meeting.
2. 

The structure "KIRI desu/da/de" is used after an information that one wants to declare as being the last time it occurred.

祖母とは去年の正月に会ったきりです。 
そぼ と は きょねん の しょうがつ に あった きり です。
 The last I saw my grandmother was at last New Year.
