I'm pleased to announce that JA Sensei 6.1.1 is now available on Google Play.

Following the improvements made to Kanji and Japanese Counters in version 6.1.0, this new update focuses more closely on ease of use. Several important interfaces have been redesigned to make navigation clearer, reading more enjoyable, and content management simpler.

Lessons: track your progress more easily

The lesson list now features a clearer, more modern interface.

You can now distinguish more easily between completed lessons, lessons you still need to study, and content you can access. A progress overview gives you an immediate picture of how far you have come, while the integrated search helps you quickly find a specific lesson or topic.

Each lesson presents its title, content, illustration, and progress status more clearly. This makes it easier to identify your next step or resume a lesson you have already started.

Reading: interact directly with the text

The Reading module has been thoroughly modernized to provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

Stories are now displayed in a new interface designed specifically for reading. Titles, paragraphs, dialogues, and chapter transitions are structured more clearly, making the text easier to follow.

Most importantly, you can now select a sentence directly to access the tools you need:

• listen to its pronunciation;
• display its translation;
• view detailed explanations;
• temporarily display furigana for that sentence.

Reading options also remain available so you can adapt the display to your preferences, including text size, furigana, spacing, reading background, and audio speed.

A new manager for your personal lists

JA Sensei 6.1.1 introduces a brand-new list manager shared across the Kana, Kanji, Radicals, and Vocabulary modules.

You can now browse the general lists provided by the app and your own personal lists more easily. You can also create a list from scratch or copy a general list and adapt it to your needs.

The new manager allows you to:

• create and rename personal lists;
• search for and add new items;
• copy or move items between lists;
• remove items you no longer need;
• merge several personal lists;
• choose which lists to use in quizzes and flashcards.

This gives you greater control over your learning: preparing a list of kanji to review, grouping vocabulary by topic, or creating a personalized study plan is now much easier.
